A magnificent captain of New Zealand in all three forms of the international game until recently, McCullum is also devastating with the bat and the leading career scorer in Twenty20 International cricket. He is the first and so far only player to have scored two Twenty20 International centuries and 2000 runs in T20 Internationals. McCullum was a wicket-keeper batsman until 2013, and is known for his fast scoring rate. On 18 February 2014, McCullum scored 302 runs against India, making him the first New Zealand cricketer to score a triple hundred in Test cricket. In 2014, he also went on to become the first New Zealander to score 1000 test runs in a calendar year, ending the year with a tally of 1164 runs.
