Philip Nikodem Jagielka (born 17 August 1982) is a retired English footballer widely regarded for his consistency, leadership, and versatility in defense. A product of Sheffield United’s youth academy, he became a cornerstone of their team, earning the club’s Player of the Year award multiple times. Jagielka joined Everton in 2007, where he enjoyed over a decade of success, making 385 appearances and serving as captain, renowned for his composure, aerial ability, and crucial goals, including a stunning strike in the Merseyside Derby. Capped 40 times for England, he represented his country in major tournaments such as UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Jagielka returned to Sheffield United in 2019, concluding his career with stints at Stoke City and Derby County.
