Icons Series today announced another NFL great to join Team USA for the inaugural US event at the prestigious Liberty National Golf Club on June 30-July 1, 2022.
If Fred Couples is looking for someone to win the Icons Series in the last match of the singles, he may want to look no further than Robbie Gould.
The San Francisco 49er is widely held as the best clutch kicker of his generation and will measure up against anyone when his time in the NFL comes to an end.
Gould is a perfect 20 for 20 in the play offs but even through his brilliant career he’s maintained a love of golf that dates back beyond his days at Penn State.
When he joined the Chicago Bears in 2005, Robbie had a handicap of 14, but with the same determination and hard work he put into kicking in one footballs toughest stadiums, he was soon into single figures.
That handicap has been cut to 5 in recent years and he will be looking forward to teeing it up at Liberty National for the man he once included on his dream fourball.
Gould joins Team USA led by World Golf Hall of Famer and captain Fred Couples and will play alongside the most decorated Olympian of all-time Michael Phelps, Pro Football Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan, two-time Super Bowl champion Ben
Roethlisberger, and 2013 Sixth Man of the Year J.R. Smith.
Team USA and Team Rest of the World will announce additional Icons to the event lineup in the coming weeks of the event, with 12 total icons per team participating.
