Singh Joins Captain Ernie Els’s team at Liberty National Golf Club on June 30 – July 1

Icons Series, a new concept in sport and entertainment, today announced that former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh will join the Team Rest of the World roster, captained by Ernie Els, for the inaugural US event at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ, on June 30 – July 1, 2022.

The competition will bring together the world’s most iconic athletes across multiple sports and features a 10-hole team match-play tournament format with global sporting stars involved like never before. Tickets are available via and start at $25.

Singh was a child prodigy and made announced himself on the world stage during India’s victorious 2000 Under-19 World Cup before helping India to glory in the 2002 NatWest final at Lord’s. He also helped India to win the 2007 World T20, notably hitting six sixes in an over and hitting the Australian attack for a 30-ball 70. Singh was part of the India team that won the 2011 World Cup to underline his position among the greats of post-Millennium cricket.

Singh commented: “I’m really excited to join the Icons Series and represent India in the Rest of the World Team. We already have a team full of great talent and the toughest of competitors and it’s going to be nice to actually play alongside AB De Villiers, Ricky Ponting and Brian Lara after years of battling it out in the middle on the cricket field in our own sport.

“I can see how seriously TEAM USA is taking the event but I will be ready and can’t wait to get out there. I’m looking forward to seeing all the Indian fans down at Liberty National.”

Singh will join the Team Rest of the World led by four-time Major champion and captain Ernie Els, former World No. 1, three-time Grand Slam winner Ash Barty, boxing’s pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez, two-time Champions League title winner and legendary Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, England National Team Captain and three-time Golden Boot winner, Harry Kane, Cricketer of the Decade 2000, Ricky Ponting, World Rugby Hall of Famer, George Gregan, one of the greatest cricketers of all time, AB de Villiers and three-time Premier League winner and current Liverpool footballer, James Milner MBE.

The Team USA roster is led by World Golf Hall of Famer and captain Fred Couples, and features the most decorated Olympian of all-time, Michael Phelps, Pro Football Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan, two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger, two-time NBA champion J.R. Smith, and 2022 Super Bowl champion Andrew Whitworth.

Team USA and Team World will announce additional Icons to the event lineup in the coming weeks of the event, with 12 total icons per team participating.
