Peter Schmeichel (born 18 November 1963) is a Danish former professional footballer celebrated as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time. Known for his commanding presence and remarkable reflexes, Schmeichel played a pivotal role in Manchester United's success during the 1990s, winning five Premier League titles, three FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League, including the historic treble in 1999. Starting his career in Denmark with Brøndby, where he won four league titles, he joined United in 1991 and quickly became a world-class goalkeeper under Sir Alex Ferguson. Schmeichel also earned 129 caps for Denmark, playing a key role in their UEFA Euro 1992 victory. After leaving United, he had stints with Sporting CP, Aston Villa, and Manchester City before retiring in 2003, leaving a lasting legacy in football.
